Our team will aid you with relevant information and requirements necessary to safeguard the railway while you conduct your operations.

Working near the railway poses significant risks to your staff, Translink employees, and the general public. 

We recognize these risks and are committed to working with you to mitigate them wherever possible to ensure the safe operation of trains, as well as the safety of passengers and workers.

FURTHER INFORMATION ON TPW

As set out in the procedure, a third party may refer to the third party itself, the client, its agents, consultants, representatives, or contractors (including subcontractors). 

All Third Party Works shall be carried out in accordance with the NIR Third Party Works Procedure.

EXAMPLES OF TPW

Works team can help you with the requirements and potential solutions for various types of works/activities around the railway, including:

  • Construction or Building works

  • Cranes, Piling, MEWPS and lifting equipment

  • Utility works 

  • Bridge works including work at over or under bridges

  • Road / Footway, resurfacing and traffic management schemes 

  • Access onto the railway network

  • Domestic related projects (e.g. house extension & excavation works affecting slopes/retaining walls)

The primary focus of our Third Party Works (TPW) team is to ensure safety and foster collaboration when conducting works near the railway. On Track Technicians can provide the planning, management and resources for any work within 50 meters of the railway boundary, within 200 meters of a level crossing, or in a location that could potentially cause a ‘line blockage’.
