Signalling Team Leader

  • On Track Technicians (OTT) is a leading railway infrastructure contractor dedicated to developing railway networks. We ensure the safety, well-being, and quality of life for everyone working and using the railway.

    We are seeking an experienced Signalling Team Leader to join our rail engineering team. This role involves leading signalling maintenance and installation activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and supporting operational reliability. The successful candidate will also be expected to undertake railway operative duties when required.

  • Your responsibilities will include:

    • Lead and supervise signalling maintenance and installation activities

    • Ensure compliance with IRSE standards and organisational safety procedures

    • Plan and allocate resources for signalling works, including personnel, tools, and documentation

    • Carry out fault-finding, maintenance, and testing of signalling equipment (points, track circuits, barriers, AWS, etc.)

    • Complete integrity checks and documentation in line with standards

    • Support railway operations and undertake operative duties when required

    • Mentor and develop team members, promoting best practices and safety culture

    • Willingness to undertake any other duties as required by the business

    • Willingness to travel within UK and Ireland.

    • Valid IRSE Signalling Maintenance Licence or equivalent SMTH licence (not expiring within 4 months)

    • Northern Ireland Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification

    • Level 3 SMTH a. b. c. d. f. competency, including SMS or SIH competency in HW Points, DC Track Circuit, AHB/MCB Mk2 Barrier, AWS, Colour Light Signals

    • Full UK Driving Licence

    • Ability to carry out Railway Operative duties as a secondary role

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in signalling maintenance and testing

    • Strong knowledge of safety integrity principles, signalling standards, and compliance with statutory regulations.

    • G110 competency (SITH)

    • Competency in SWT Mod 5 or above

    • TPWS competency

    • RRI competency

    • Frauscher Wheel Detector experience

    • Telecoms experience (including lineside communications systems)

    • Team Leader Licence or proven leadership experience

    • Irish Rail PTS and/or Network Rail PTS

    • IRSE Installer or Functional Tester licence

360 Tracked Excavator Operator

  • On Track Technicians (OTT) is a leading railway infrastructure contractor dedicated to developing railway networks. We ensure the safety, well-being, and quality of life for everyone working and using the railway.

    We are currently looking to recruit an experienced and reliable plant /digger operator to work within our Translink Fencing and Maintenance Contracts.

    OTT also own and operate an HGV Grab Tipper lorry, Experience with operating HGV Grab lorries is preferred but not essential.

  • Your responsibilities will include:

    • Work both independently and as part of a team to meet project objectives

    • Ensuring all works undertaken are safe and in line with industry best practice

    • Ability to read plans and drawings plus the ability to review and understand work instructions

    • You will be responsible for your own plant/vehicle, which includes daily walk around checks before each shift

    • Operating other plant equipment within OTT business including but not limited to Excavator, teleporter, lorries & taking part in other railway related works on and off track.

    Full training on railway specific competencies will be provided.

    • Valid 360 tracked excavator experience

    • 5 Years experience 360 tracked excavator experience

    • Full UK Driving Licence

    • Full UK HGV driving licence

    • Valid CSR Card

    • HGV Licence – Class 2

    • Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding skills

    • Railway specific experience

    • Note: This role is subject to a medical assessment.

SHEQ Manager

  • On Track technicians are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) Manager.

    As the SHEQ Manager, you will promote and ensure the well-being, health, safety, and welfare of our employees, contractors, visitors, and third parties.

  • Your responsibilities will include:

    • Developing and implementing health and safety policies.

    • Ensuring compliance with regulations.

    • Conducting inspections.

    • Investigating incidents.

    • Managing our Competency Management System.

    You will also maintain accurate records, communicate safety policies, and collaborate with stakeholders to uphold our SHEQ standards. The role requires a proactive approach to initiatives to advance the On Track Technicians SHEQ capability.

    • Minimum 3 years construction health and safety management experience

    • NEBOSH Construction Certificate

    • Ability to Pass NIR Safety Critical Medical 

    • Ability to periodically work Nightshift 

    • Understanding of Construction Safety processes

    • IT capabilities, including proficiency in Microsoft Office

    • Ability to keep detailed records

    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and training skills

    • Ability to work as part of a team

    • Level 6 H&S qualification

    • Rail experience, understanding of P-Way Standards

    • Knowledge of ISO auditing and accreditation

    • Experience in a similar role within the rail industry 

    • In-date and valid PTS

    • NEBOSH Environmental Certificate

    • Formal Quality Management training

RAILWAY ENGINEERING APPRENTICESHIP (Coming Soon)

  • On Track Technicians framework of training under the apprenticeship programme consists of a progress path with the possible award of an NVQ Level 2 in Rail Engineering, functional skills; English, Maths, IT and on-track competency certifications.

    The programme includes a pay as you learn 32-hour contract. This includes attendance at College one day per week to receive the underpinning knowledge of the job role. The remaining hours will be spent on track learning your trade.

    To be eligible, you must be aged between 18 - 24 yrs.
